The purpose of this project was to build a microscope using the instructions from a youtube video, that could use our iPhones to take pictures of the objects. We got to look at things in closer perspective, understanding the smaller things in the world. We were tasked with creating a background story for why we choose the object we did, and how that relates to us. I chose a very small flower that was a part of a bush. At first glance, all you see is the bush because the flower are so tiny. The only reason they stand out is because of the difference of color. Getting to the intricate beauty within the flower opens your eyes to small objects in nature.
I learned a lot about nature throughout the project while exploring things underneath the microscope. I also learned how the microscopes worked as far as the lens and the magnification level. Everyones magnification level was different even if they had the same lens, because the phone lens' are different as well.
As far as working in a partnership, it actually worked out very well. We felt inspired by the same objects, creating a closer bond that helped us get through the project. The only thing I would say maybe didn't work so well was that we both had the same strengths as far as skills, which I found it may be better to have some unique skills among the partnership, each having something to bring to the table. It is important to learn not only from the teacher but among peers as well, and with a diverse skill set, that allows students to learn from one another.
