For Humanities, in order to pass the class we have to read 2 books per semester. For each book we read, to ensure that we read and understood the book, we need to do a book critique with Mr. Aguirre, talking about the book and things that happened within the book. For my 1st book, I read a book called Matched by Ally Condie. Intrigued to hear what happened after the first book book, I read the second book, Crossed. It was all about how the two main characters were crossing over into a new way of living while also hoping to cross paths along the way. Doing book critiques was not only a good way to encourage people to read, while also giving them a choice but also fun to express how you truly felt about the book. I learned a lot about how I can connect to fictional characters and their emotions without them being real. I enjoy reading but I don't always have the motivation to do it. This is a good way to get people to pick up a book in the first place. Within the book there were also many quotes that I found meaningful and it really made me stop and think for a while about how I felt, helping define my personality.
